Inside ibiLab

Virtual reality gives us a controlled way to change the structure of a world and observe how the brain finds its way through it.

Inside ibiLab, we build immersive environments in which geometry, movement, and physical rules can be altered with precision. By studying how people learn, navigate, and adapt within them, we investigate the cognitive maps that support orientation, memory, and purposeful action — and how those maps are revised when familiar cues no longer agree.

Current Questions

How does the mind map a world that has no familiar geometry?Neural Cartography
If gravity changes, can intuition change with it?Altered Physics
Where is “forward” when geometry and gravity disagree?Agency Beyond Euclid
How should humans move through worlds we did not evolve to inhabit?Embodied Locomotion
What happens when the internal map begins to disappear?Neurocognitive Navigation

Experimental Worlds

Baseline

Euclidean

The honest plane. Everything else is measured against it.

Geometry

Curved & Spherical

Curvature the horizon betrays long before anyone measures it.

Geometry

Hyperbolic

Negative curvature everywhere. Space runs away from the observer.

Topology

Topologically Unusual

Locally believable, globally impossible. The contradiction lives only in the integration.

Physics

Altered Gravity

A prior strong enough that changing it changes prediction, action, and reasoning.

Movement

Novel Locomotion

Hands-free and body-linked movement for worlds the body has no inherited solution for.
